Bulgaria and Romania join the Schengen area

Starting from January 2025, both Bulgaria and Romania will join the Schengen area. For travelers, that means that they will normally be able to cross between those countries and the others in the Schengen space without border checks. More information


Great Britain introduces Electronic Travel Authorization

Starting from April 2025, tourists entering the United Kingdom for travel purposes in most cases will need an electronic travel authorization before they board their flights. Visa holders will be exempt from the measure. The ETA can be applied for via an app and will be valid for two years. More information


Venice extends access fees rules for 2025

Venice, the Italian lagoon city that draws millions of visitors per year, has extended its access fee regimen for 2025. The measure had been introduced in 2024 to combat overtourism and applies to day trips only, those staying in town overnight will be exempt. Compared to 2024, the fee will be levied on twice as many days in 2025 and has also risen to €10 per person. More information
